Bring me to the Life

Yup... been a while.

Some people said I have a good blog name. Do you like it ? :) and they said it's pity that it's not in use. Well... what ya know,.. I'm not a type of writer. But to think about it,... on some days I have few minutes to spare. I have options to browse the net, play with photoshop, play some flash games… or write this blog.

What should I write ? This is what I ask myself every time I encourage this soul to share something to the world. Some people makes it like a diary, they write what they eat for breakfast, what happens at school, what they friends say, which dress for dinner, how sweet the ice cream time with the funny boyfriend,.. blah blah blah… Some write about their interest, it’s about food, hi-tech gadget, football, clay pot,.. things that they can spare some time in little effort for small research about it, then tell the world what’s new or what’s interesting. Some people write their protest, to their government, to their parents,… they shout it loud (or silent?) on the blog. Every day they have something to protest, that’s why they are more diligent in writing compared to me. Some write for fame… post a contradictive topic, hot discussion, they challenge the world… at some time they would put a daring picture or statement too,.. well, anything to grab your attention.

So… what should I write ?

My brother writes for God,.. or something sounds like that from the way he expresses it. My other friend has a very good blog name too - “dear God” – as if it’s a letter to God, even the contents are not always addressed to God but more to people, to her friends,.. or rather to her readers.

Should I write something to God ? or for God ? Well… I feel blessed, if you ask me. I feel gracious, grateful, thankful,.. whatever the word is to express it, something that makes you jump and give a big hug to someone and screaming “thank you.. thank you.. thank you…” million times. So I guess… I should ?

I know, some of you out there might not interested in topics about God, just because you think the God I believe in is not the true one, or perhaps you just don’t believe in God. That’s fine… Some of you might find the writing is funny too... that’s OK. Some of you “Christians” might think this is a great blog full of great writings… Have you read your bible today ?

Well,.. so that’s it.. fixed. I will write things about God, or things people say about God, or things I wonder about God, or things I think what God wants me to tell the world… cool !

Another thing… erm… I think I should keep it short, Aey ? How much time you have to read this blog ? 1 minute ? 5 minutes ? hmm… I have this challenge in my mind one day, that just with one minute (or reading my post), you would ponder the whole day about what I write. Let’s try that,.. shall we ?

Char-siu Rice

There's a food stall near my place, selling chicken rice, and they have pork as well. The menu on the wall, has chicken rice, roasted pork rice, char-siu rice, etc... One meat with rice is never enough for me, I'm used to eat rice with few dishes.. so just the rice and chicken does not sound like proper meal to me.

I asked for char-siu rice, plus roasted meat, wonder if I can just add some more money for the extra roasted meat. She said yes, and she charged me $2.50 for that, which was a good deal ! I guess she gave me the roasted meat for free.

That was for lunch. the next time I went back was for dinner, and they have this offfer, that after 5pm, the chicken rice is $2.00. I asked for the same thing, and she charged me $2.50,... well.. I guess the 50c was for the roasted meat.. still a reasonable price. I love the chilli too.

The funny thing started after few times I went back there. There was a time where her mother in law (I assume) was there too, and this old lady was on the counter taking payment. Well, from my order she knew that I can't speak english, so when I asked "how much", she turned back to the young lady and ask "how much do you charge ?"

(NOTE: I can't speak chinese, but I know few words and I can guess the conversation)
the young lady replied " $2.50 ",
the old lady said "no.. you cannot charge that, there is extra meat"
the young lady : "but he's regular, and he always order the same thing, I always charge that price"
old lady : "then we have to increase the price, we can't stick to the price like that"


the old lady turned to me and said "$2.80"
OK,.. she increased the price to $2.80 now, not a big deal for me,.. I like the rice, and the roasted meat is also nice. so I just paid her and left the place. The next time when I went there,.. exactly the same thing happened again,... the old lady asked the same question, the young lady replied the same answer, and the same decision was made. I paid for $2.80, and I guess from the time I shouldn't expect the price to go lower back to $2.50 as before. I still enjoy the meal anyway, it's worth it.

But another time, when the old lady was not there, the young lady charged me $2.50 =)

I kept going back for quite some times, I like the food.
One day I went back, the old lady was there,.. well.. the same scenario happened again, and I was expecting to pay $2.80,.. but to my surprise, she said "$3" !!! Why would she do that ? She didn't remember me ? well fine... but at least you should have a standard, a fixed price for what you sell, not just being flexible with the price, which can change anytime... What I order is not on the menu, but they should have the standard, right ? Well.. I just paid anyway, with a bit of disapointment, not because I am stingy (well.. I am,.. but just a little), but I felt like being cheated. I still enjoyed the food anyway...

The next visit, the price was still the same,.. it was $3... I just paid it anyway... but guess what...
I just bought it again few days ago, and she charged me $3.30 ! How come the price keeps increasing ? is it because she know I will always come back anyhow, regardless the price that keeps increasing ?

You tell me,... if you have a customer that keep coming back to you, because you have good quality product and your service is good, I'm talking about loyal customer that seems to stick with you and not bother to try to find alternatives... what would you do :

1. Giving bonus and reward as appreciation for the loyalty, and as to keep the good relationship and loyalty.
or
2. Taking more profits as there is a chance to get more - because this customer keeps coming back, which means you have quality and service that deserve more profit.

so,.. tell me, if you have a business, which is likely to be your thought ?

by the way... I'm going back to that place now, but this time I'll have nasi lemak for my lunch.

letter to my future baby

Dear my future baby,

Congratulation, you made it ! Welcome to the world, you will find it hard to live in this world, but trust me, it's not so bad. After a while you will get used to it and you will find it fun. So keep looking forward for a great life, you will always have our support, I must tell you, you are lucky to be the child of me and your mom. No parents out there are better than us. I will tell you why...

First of all, we will provide everything you need. You know, you're getting the best room in this hospital ! As you see, it's a single room, we don't want you to be disturbed by other babies' crying, I can understand how you feel in the middle of those babies. Actually it's also because we don't want to take the wrong baby.. you know... all babies look almost the same during their first few days... I and your mom are afraid that we might recognize the wrong baby... we don't want to lose you, you know that.. so,.. just in case,.. we get you your own room... how do you like it, huh ?

And after this, when we check out from this hospital, you will go directly to the Future Star Care House, where they take care of babies like you. I already made the booking for you, I also get you a private nurse... that take cares of everything... she's gonna help you with everything,.. she's gonna feed you with the best milk that I ordered from Europe (it's imported, so I have to order for a big supply), change your diaper every scheduled time, give you a bath, she's gonna be there for you 24 hours !

You are free to cry at night, anytime you want,.. it's OK,.. don't feel bad about that because she is paid for that,.. and it's quiet big pay, you know... so you deserve the best ! When you grow up a little bigger, another nurse will teach you how to use spoon and eat from the plate, another will teach you how to use the toilet.

A specialist will teach you how to speak, they will start with simple words like "hungry", "money", "quick", "I want...", or "get lost". Some doctors will assist you in training for standing and walking. They are really profesionals there, everyone is expert in their field, I make sure you will get the best ! This Care House has been known to train great babies who grow up to be smart kids with great achievements ! That's why we subscribe for the Future Star Care house,.. it's for your future ! We want you to get the best !

We will come every weekend to see you, and off course you're not gonna stay there forever ! The place is only for babies ! One day you will be able to eat without any help, you will be able to use the toilet, change your clothes, tie your shoes,... you will be able to communicate with us, expressing your thought in perfect language,... you will be able to use public transport to go to school... you will be mature enough to take care of yourself,... and that's when you will come to live with us. My house is always waiting for the time to come, so do look forward for it.

Someone from the church told us that we shouldn't leave you there, that we should take you home with us, and take care of you. But what do they know ? They don't know how busy I am, and how busy your mom is... We don't want to sacrifice you, we don't want you to be the victim of our career and other things that we do in our life ! It is impossible for us to wake up in the middle of the night because you are hungry... please don't get me wrong.. it's not your fault if you cry at 2AM in the morning, but you must understand that I sleep late and have to wake up early for the work ! Your mom is also busy with the church ministry, you know... she deserves a good night rest. Anyway we have no experience in taking care of babies... we never had any training in that field... I can't take risk raising you up in the wrong way, can I ?

After all... someday you will also put me in the nursing house, when I am too old and your mom is too weak to take care of me,... won't you ? We're expecting that.. so don't worry... we know when we get too old, too weak to take care of ourselves, at that time you will be a great succesful man, you will have so many things to handle, we don't want to be your burden, we don't want to drag you down from your position... so it's OK,.. we understand if someday you decide to put us in the nursing house.

so my dear future baby... let me tell you this...


NAHHH... I WAS JUST KIDDING !

I'm gonna take you home...
I'm gonna tickle you every day...
so you'd better get used to it.
